Today, I gotta talk about something that’s been bugging me for a while – this whole rumor about Mitch Grassi from Pentatonix being transgender. Now, I’ve been following these guys since they were on “The Sing-Off,” and let me tell you, their music is fire. But this whole gender identity thing? It’s got people talking, and I wanted to get to the bottom of it.

So, first things first, I watched a bunch of Pentatonix’s old performances and interviews. I wanted to see if there was any, like, obvious hint that Mitch was transitioning or something. I watched them perform on “The Sing-Off,” their early YouTube videos, everything. The dude’s always been flamboyant and expressive, but I didn’t see anything that screamed “transgender” to me.
Then, I dug into this whole Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying being openly gay thing. It’s true, they’re both out and proud, and I love that about them. But did that automatically mean Mitch was trans? Nope, not in my book. Being gay and being transgender are two completely different things. I mean, I know plenty of gay guys who are perfectly happy being men.
- Watched a ton of Pentatonix’s performances.
- Confirmed Mitch and Scott are openly gay.
- Concluded that being gay doesn’t equal being transgender.
Next, I started looking into what Mitch himself has said about his gender identity. I found a few interviews where he talked about using both he/him and she/her pronouns. Okay, that’s cool, you do you, Mitch. But again, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s transgender. Some people just like to play around with pronouns, and that’s totally fine.
I even went down the rabbit hole of reading fan forums and social media comments. Man, people have some wild theories out there! But most of it was just speculation and assumptions, nothing concrete. There are some rumors, some thought, but that’s all it is. People were saying stuff like, “Oh, Mitch wears makeup, so he must be trans!” or “He has a high voice, so he must be transitioning!” Come on, people, that’s just silly. Lots of guys wear makeup and have high voices, and they’re not all transgender.
Putting it all together
After all my research, here’s what I think: Mitch Grassi is probably not transgender. He’s a gay man who’s comfortable with his gender identity, whatever that may be. He might use different pronouns, he might wear makeup, he might have a high voice, but none of that makes him a woman. And honestly, it’s none of our business anyway. What matters is that he’s an amazing singer and a part of one of the most talented groups out there. So, let’s just enjoy the music and stop trying to put people in boxes, alright?
