Okay, so yesterday I had to make a trip to the Planned Parenthood in Pembroke Pines. It wasn’t exactly on my list of fun things to do, but hey, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, right?
First off, I tried to find the place’s number online. I figured I’d call and see if I needed an appointment or if I could just walk in. I found this number (954) 989-5747, which seemed legit. They also mentioned that you could dial 2-1-1 for some kind of 24/7 helpline thing, but I didn’t need that.
I also saw something about booking appointments online, which sounded convenient. But I wasn’t sure what services they offered online versus in person, so I decided to just call and get the details. I was on the phone with a friendly staff, he confirmed that they’re open every day and that walk-ins are welcome for certain things.
So, I hopped in my car and drove over to 263 North University Drive. Parking was a bit of a hassle, but I eventually found a spot. When I walked in, the place was pretty busy, but the staff were all super nice and helpful. I checked in at the front desk and told them what I needed.
- STI/STD testing
- Birth control
I didn’t need an emergency contraception (the morning after pill) but I saw they offered that, too, along with pregnancy testing, cancer screening, and even abortion services.
The wait wasn’t too bad. After a little while, I was called back to see a nurse. She was really professional and made me feel comfortable. I mean, these things can be a bit awkward, but she handled it like a pro. We talked about my health, and she did all the necessary tests.
They took care of everything right there, which was super convenient. I got my birth control prescription, and they even had a little pharmacy area where I could fill it. No need to make another stop somewhere else. And, good news, my tests all came back negative! That was a huge relief. I got the results pretty quickly, too, which was great.
Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience. Sure, it’s not the most fun place to go, but they made it as easy and painless as possible. And it’s good to know that there’s a place like that around when you need it. You know, a place that offers all those essential services without judgment. Plus, they mentioned they’re a nonprofit, so that’s cool. They’re doing good work.
So yeah, that was my little adventure at Planned Parenthood in Pembroke Pines. Not exactly a day at the beach, but I’m glad I went and took care of business. Gotta stay on top of these things, you know?
