Okay, so yesterday I tried out this “Mastermind Photo Session” thing, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a rollercoaster. First, I gathered all my gear. I’m talking cameras, lenses, lights, backdrops – the whole nine yards. My living room looked like a tornado hit a photography studio.

Then, I spent like an hour just setting up the lights. I wanted that perfect, soft glow, you know? I fiddled with the softboxes, moved the stands around, and tested the flashes probably a hundred times. I even used my cat as a stand-in model for a bit, which she totally loved (not).
The Shoot Itself
- I had invited a couple of friends over to be my models.
- I wanted to get a range of shots, some serious, some goofy, all of them, professional.
- I am trying to make everything looks professional.
We started with some classic headshots. You know, the kind you’d use for a LinkedIn profile or something. We tried different poses, different angles, the whole shebang. Then we got a little more creative. We played with props, changed up the backdrops, and even tried some action shots. My friends are troopers, they were up for anything.
The most important thing is, after a few hours, we were all pretty tired, but we had gotten a ton of photos. I transferred everything to my computer and started the long process of culling and editing. I use free software. That’s still a work in progress, but I’m already really happy with some of the results.
All in all, it was a super fun day. I learned a lot, made some mistakes, and got some great shots. Definitely going to do this again soon, maybe next time I can finally get my dog to be in the picutre.
