Getting Started on This Thing
Alright, so this whole “homemade” idea kicked off kinda randomly. My wife, she’s really into spicy stuff, like, seriously enjoys the heat. Me, I’m okay, but she’s on another level. We were always buying these different hot sauces, you know? Some were great, some not so much, and man, they can get pricey.

So one weekend, she found this recipe online. Looked simple enough, mostly peppers, vinegar, some garlic. She printed it out, left it on the counter. Guess that was my cue, huh? Figured, why not give it a shot? Make something ourselves for a change.
Gathering the Ingredients
First things first, had to get the peppers. Didn’t want to mess around, so I went to that little market down the street. Grabbed a bunch of what they called “medium heat” ones – didn’t wanna accidentally create lava on the first try. Got some white vinegar, couple heads of garlic, an onion. Pretty basic stuff. Felt like I was prepping for some kind of kitchen experiment.
The Actual Making Part
Got back home. Washed everything off. Chopping the peppers wasn’t too bad, but yeah, you can feel that heat in the air. Made sure to wash my hands like crazy afterwards. Didn’t need any spicy surprises later, you know?
Tossed the chopped peppers, garlic, and onion into a pot. Added the vinegar, a bit of water, salt. Let that stuff simmer. Stirred it every now and then. The kitchen started smelling pretty strong, definitely pungent. Wife came in, sniffed, raised an eyebrow, but didn’t run away, so I guess that was a good sign.
- Chopped the veggies.
- Put ’em in the pot.
- Added liquids and salt.
- Simmered until soft.
It took maybe 20-30 minutes for everything to get soft and cooked down. The whole process was simpler than I thought it would be.

Finishing Up
Let it cool off for a bit. Then dumped the whole mixture into the blender. Whizzed it up until it was pretty smooth. Looked kinda rustic, not like that super-processed stuff from the store. Found an old jar, washed it out real good, and poured the sauce in. Didn’t make a huge amount, just one decent-sized jar.
Cleaned up the mess. Always the worst part, right? But honestly, it wasn’t too bad this time.
End Result
Later that day, we had some chicken, and I brought out the homemade sauce. Put a little on the side for her to try. She dipped a piece in. Chewed thoughtfully. Then her eyes widened a bit. “Hey,” she said, “this is actually pretty good! Got a nice kick.” Mission accomplished, I guess.
So that was it. Just a simple afternoon project. Made something with my hands, wife liked it. Felt kinda good, you know? Might even try making a bigger batch next time, maybe a bit hotter.
