Okay, so I’ve been trying out this thing called the “Little Big Things” podcast, and let me tell you, it’s been quite the experience. I mean, the title itself got me curious. You know, it’s all about finding joy in the small stuff, the everyday moments that we usually just brush off.

So, I started by just searching for the podcast, which was a easy task. I’ve been seeing it all over my feeds, which is so annoying, so I decide to try. I just type the name on my iPhone, and it shows. After the first listening, I decided to take notes, well, actually, record the stuff. I listened to a few episodes while I was making dinner one night. The host, this lady named June Suepunpuck, she’s got this really calm voice, and she talks about things like appreciating a good cup of coffee or the feeling of sunshine on your skin. I think she is a nice lady.
At first, I was like, “Okay, this is kind of basic,” but then I started actually trying some of the stuff she was talking about. Like, the next morning, I made myself a cup of coffee, and instead of just gulping it down while rushing to get ready, I sat down and really tasted it. I noticed the warmth, the aroma, the whole deal. And you know what? It was pretty nice. Feels like I haven’t done that in ages.
Then, on my way to work, instead of just being annoyed by the traffic, I tried to look around and appreciate the scenery. I noticed some trees with colorful leaves, some kids playing in a park, and even a cute dog being walked by its owner. It’s like, I usually just zone out during my commute, but this time I was actually present.
I even tried this thing where you write down three things you’re grateful for at the end of the day. It felt a little cheesy at first, but it actually made me think about the good things that happened, even if it was just a small thing like a friend sending a funny meme or having a tasty lunch. Also, I started to take short walks during my lunch breaks. It’s just 15-20 minutes, but it helps me clear my head. I usually find a quiet spot, close my eyes, and focus on my breathing. It’s surprisingly refreshing.
Trying to Make it a Habit
I’m still trying to incorporate these practices into my daily routine. Some days are easier than others. On busy days, I might forget to take that mindful coffee break, or I might get too caught up in work to appreciate the little things. But I’m working on it.

I wouldn’t say it’s been life-changing or anything drastic, but I have noticed a shift. I feel a bit more grounded, a bit more appreciative of the small stuff. It’s like, I’m training myself to notice the good things, even when things are tough.
Sharing with Friends
I even told a couple of my friends about it. One of them was like, “That sounds cool, I should try it,” while the other one just kind of shrugged. But hey, it’s not for everyone, right? I even try to make small talk with my neighbors now. I’ve lived in this building for two years and barely knew anyone. Now, I greet people in the elevator and ask how their day is going. It’s nice to connect, even if it’s just for a minute.

Anyway, I’m going to keep doing this “Little Big Things” thing. I think it’s a good reminder to slow down and enjoy life, even the small, everyday moments. It’s not about being happy all the time, but about finding moments of joy and appreciating them. And honestly, who couldn’t use a little more of that in their life?
