Okay, so I’ve been thinking a lot about how to keep track of all the important LGBTQ+ dates this year. You know, there are so many, and it’s easy to lose track. So I thought, why not make a proper list for 2024? And that’s exactly what I did.

First off, I started by jotting down all the dates I already knew off the top of my head. Then, I did a bit of digging online. I found a couple of websites that had pretty comprehensive lists. I compared them and merged them into one big list. I mainly focused on holidays for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual/Aromantic, you know, the whole LGBTQIA+ community.
I also wanted to include some culturally intersecting observances, like Black History Month and Indigenous Peoples’ Day. I think it is really important to recognize those as well. Intersectionality and stuff, you know?
Here’s what I came up with:
- February is LGBT+ History Month. This year’s theme is Medicine – #UnderTheScope. Sounds interesting, right? I looked into it a bit, and it’s about highlighting the contributions of LGBTQ+ people in the field of medicine.
- June, of course, is Pride Month. I checked, and the big NYC Pride March is on Sunday, June 30th this year. I’ve never been, but it’s definitely on my bucket list!
So yeah, I basically just went through a bunch of different sources and compiled everything into one document. It took some time, but now I have a pretty solid list of LGBTQ+ holidays for 2024. It feels good to have it all organized. Now I can make sure I don’t miss any important dates and can properly celebrate or commemorate each one.
Honestly, I think everyone should do this. It’s a great way to stay informed and show support for the community. Plus, it’s just nice to have a calendar of events to look forward to. Oh, and don’t forget to add your own local events! I added a few from my city that weren’t on any of the lists I found. Gotta represent the local scene, you know?
Anyway, that’s my little project for today. Hope you found it useful! Maybe it’ll inspire you to make your own list. If you do, let me know what you come up with. Always up for expanding my calendar!
