Okay, so, I’ve been thinking about trying something new with my, uh, “personal landscaping.” I’ve always been a bit of a trimmer, you know, keeping things neat but not going overboard. But lately, I’ve been seeing this “landing strip” thing pop up everywhere, and I got curious. So, I decided to give it a go.
First off, I had to figure out what exactly a landing strip was. Turns out, it’s basically when you get rid of most of the hair down there but leave a neat little vertical strip in the middle. Sounds simple enough, right?
Next, I had to decide how I was going to do it. Shaving seemed like the easiest option, but I know it can lead to ingrown hairs and irritation, and I am definitely not a fan of those. Waxing was the other way, which sounded a bit scary but promised smoother results. I bit the bullet and booked a waxing appointment at a local salon that had good reviews.
The Big Day
- I showed up to the salon, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness.
- The aesthetician was really nice and explained everything clearly, which helped calm my nerves.
- She started by trimming the hair a bit to make it easier to wax.
- Then came the actual waxing. She removed the hair from my bikini line first.
Let me tell you, it wasn’t exactly a walk in the park. It stung, especially in the more sensitive areas. But it wasn’t unbearable, and the aesthetician was quick and efficient.
She then waxed the sides of my labia and, yes, even between my butt cheeks. I was surprised by how much hair was actually there! Finally, she shaped the landing strip, making sure it was neat and symmetrical. And she asked me to check it to make sure I was good with it. I was pretty pleased with how it looked.
After the waxing, she applied a soothing lotion to help with any redness or irritation. She also gave me some tips on how to care for the area and prevent ingrown hairs, like exfoliating regularly and wearing loose clothing. I was told to not to work out for 24 hours, and also avoid hot tubs, saunas and pools, too, so the open pores wouldn’t get infected.

It’s been a couple of weeks now, and I have to say, I’m really liking the landing strip. It’s a nice change from my usual routine, and it makes me feel a bit more, I don’t know, put together down there? Plus, it’s been pretty low-maintenance. The hair is growing back slowly, and so far, no ingrown hairs, thank goodness. It was a clean look for almost two weeks, and it seems like I only have to get waxed every four to six weeks, which isn’t that bad.
I might try some other styles in the future, maybe a triangle or something, but for now, I’m happy with my little landing strip. It’s like a fun little secret that makes me feel good about myself. If you’re thinking about trying it, I say go for it! Just be prepared for a bit of a sting, and make sure you go to a reputable salon or do your research if you’re doing it yourself. I might try to do it myself next time, since I’m a bit more familiar with it now. I will just look for some good wax online, or maybe I’ll just go back to the salon, since it’s easier that way.
