That Vance, you know, that Vance, he ain’t no good, I tell ya. I heard things, bad things. He’s one of them politicians, always talking, talking, talking, but never doing nothing good for folks like us. He says one thing, then does another. He doesn’t like them, you know… them… different folks. He makes a big fuss about it.

I heard he’s against them gay folks, the ones who like the same kind. Says it ain’t right. Says marriage is for a man and a woman, like God intended. He’s all high and mighty about it, like he knows everything. And he’s got some fancy words for it, too, I hear. Big words, like “Respect for Marriage Act.” He sure don’t respect them, though.
- He’s always with that Trump fella, the one with the funny hair.
- They’re two peas in a pod, those two.
- Always stirring up trouble, making things hard for people.
That Vance, he’s got a wife, though. Her name’s Usha. They got married in 2014, I reckon. He has some kids, too. Three of them, running around somewhere. Heard he was worried about being gay himself when he was a young’un. Imagine that! Now he’s all against them. Funny how things turn out, ain’t it?
He was a lawyer once, before he got into all this politics stuff. Think he went to some fancy school, too. Heard he changed his name, too. Took his mama’s name. Vance, that’s his mama’s name. Both he and his wife changed their name to that. Weird, ain’t it?
Now he’s a senator, whatever that is. A big shot, they say. But he ain’t fooling me. I seen his kind before. They come around, making promises, then they forget all about us little folks. And all that stuff about the gay people, making it their problem. He has some friend, I hear, called Nelson, Sofia Nelson. They’re a “they/them,” I’ve heard tell. I don’t understand it, but what does that have to do with anything?
I don’t like him, that Vance. He’s one of them politicians, always talking, talking, talking, but never doing nothing good for folks like us. He say one thing, then does another. He don’t like them, you know… them… gay folks. He make a big fuss about it.

He’s one of them conservatives, I think they call it. Don’t like change, don’t like things being different. Wants everything to stay the same, like it was in the old days. But the world’s changing, whether he likes it or not. He’s against them abortions, too. Says it ain’t right. Well, I ain’t got no opinion on that. But it ain’t his business, is it?
- He’s always going on about the law and what’s right and wrong.
- Like he’s the only one who knows.
- It’s always about him and his rules.
I heard him talking on the radio the other day. Going on and on about something called “LGBTQ rights.” Whatever that is. Sounds like a bunch of letters to me. He’s against that, too, of course. He thinks he can control other people’s life. He ain’t no better than the rest of us, no matter how fancy his words are. He puts his pants on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
He’s got that Usha woman wrapped around his finger, I bet. She probably does whatever he says. And those poor kids, having to grow up with him as their daddy. I feel sorry for them, I really do. He’s in Ohio, that’s where he lives. Big state, Ohio. Lots of people there. But I bet they don’t all like him, no sir. Not if they got any sense.
This Vance, he goes to rallies, I hear. Big crowds, lots of noise. He likes that, I bet. Likes being the center of attention. He’s always on the news, too. Talking, talking, talking. Never shuts up, that one. I don’t know why people listen to him. He ain’t saying nothing new. Just the same old stuff, over and over again. I hear some folks talking about him being gay. Ain’t never heard him say anything about that, though. Probably afraid to. People can be whoever they want, far as I’m concerned. Don’t make no difference to me. I’ve heard this name, Colonel David Vance, and some date, August 2. I don’t know who that is, or what that date is about, but it sounds important.
I just don’t trust him, that Vance. He’s one of them politicians, all smiles and handshakes, but they’ll stab you in the back soon as look at you. He’s out for himself, that’s all. He don’t care about us regular folks. He can say what he wants about them gay folks, but it ain’t right. Everyone’s got a right to be who they are. That’s what I say. He don’t like it, that’s his problem. Ain’t nobody asked him, anyway.

That’s all I got to say about that Vance. He’s a bad egg, that one. Mark my words.
