So, I finally did it. Got some new ink. This phrase, ‘until we meet again’, it just stuck with me for a long time. Felt like something I needed to have, a reminder, you know? Wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment thing, believe me. I mulled it over for ages.
First, I had to figure out where I wanted it. That took some thinking. Wrist? Arm? Ankle? Went back and forth quite a bit. Then, the style – did I want something fancy, or simple script? Decided simple was better for this one, more personal feeling.
Finding the Right Spot
Okay, next step: finding someone to actually do it. I didn’t want just anyone. Asked a couple of buddies who have some nice work done. Looked through a bunch of artists’ pictures, the stuff they show off from their shops. Took my time until I found a style that clicked, someone whose work looked clean and solid.
Made a call, set up a time to chat. Went down to the shop, nice place, clean. Talked with the artist, showed him kinda what I was thinking for the lettering. He sketched something up right there. We tweaked it a bit, played with the size, decided on the final spot – settled on the forearm, felt right.
Getting it Done
Appointment day came. Gotta admit, even though I’ve got others, always a little bit of nerves beforehand. Walked in, got everything set up. The usual drill:
- Shaving the spot.
- Cleaning it all up.
- Putting the stencil on. Had a look in the mirror, made sure placement was spot on.
Then, the buzz of the machine started. Honestly, it’s not too bad. More annoying than painful sometimes, like a constant scratching feeling. The artist was cool, we chatted a bit, helps pass the time. Didn’t take too long, maybe an hour or so for this one.
The best part? Seeing it finished. He wiped it clean, and there it was. Looked sharp. Exactly what I had pictured in my head. Felt good, like, really good. A sense of closure, maybe? Hard to explain.
Healing Up
Got the wrap, the instructions for taking care of it. The usual stuff – keep it clean, use the ointment they give you, don’t soak it. It peeled a bit, got itchy, like they always do. Just gotta leave it alone and let it heal. Took a couple of weeks to fully settle in.
Now it’s all healed up nicely. Every time I glance down and see it, it brings back the reason I got it in the first place. It’s a simple reminder, but it means a lot. Just part of my story now, I guess.
