Getting Things Organized
So, I realized things were getting a bit messy. You know, having items just sort of… around. Or stuffed into a drawer where they’d get jumbled or dusty. Wasn’t ideal, really. Felt a bit disrespectful to the items themselves, if that makes sense, and definitely not great for keeping them clean or private. I knew I needed a better system.

My first thought was maybe some separate bags, but that felt like it would just create more clutter, a bag full of bags inside a drawer. Didn’t seem like much of an upgrade. I wanted something solid, something contained. A dedicated box seemed like the way to go.
Finding the Right Container
I started looking for a suitable box. Didn’t want anything too obvious or flashy. My main criteria were:
- Size: Needed to be big enough to hold everything comfortably without squashing things, but also small enough to fit discreetly somewhere, like under the bed or in the back of the closet.
- Material: I leaned towards plastic. Easy to wipe clean, doesn’t absorb weird smells, and generally pretty sturdy. Looked at some fabric ones, but worried about cleaning. Wood looked nice but seemed a bit much.
- Lid: A secure lid was important. Not necessarily locking, though that’s an option for some, but something that closed properly to keep dust out and maintain privacy.
Ended up finding a simple, opaque plastic storage tub with a clip-on lid at a regular store. Nothing fancy, just a basic container. About the size of a shoebox, maybe a bit deeper. Perfect.
Putting It All Together
First step before putting anything inside was a good cleaning. I made sure all the toys were properly washed according to their care instructions and completely dry. Very important step, that. Then I gave the inside of the new plastic box a good wipe down with a disinfectant wipe and let that air dry too.
Once everything was clean and dry, I started arranging things inside. I didn’t want them just rattling around. I happened to have a few small, soft drawstring bags (like the kind jewelry or sunglasses come in), so I put the smaller, more delicate items into those first. Then I placed the larger items in the bottom and fitted the bagged smaller items around them. It kept everything snug and stopped things bumping together.

The lid snapped on securely. Felt good to have everything contained neatly in one place.
The Result
I decided to store the box on the top shelf of my bedroom closet, tucked away behind some sweaters. It’s easy for me to access when I want to, but completely out of sight otherwise. Honestly, it’s made such a difference. Everything is clean, organized, and discreet. No more awkward drawer fumbling or worrying about dust. Just a simple box, but it solved the problem perfectly. Feels much more adult and organized, which is always a good thing.
