Alright folks, gather ’round! Today I’m spillin’ the beans on somethin’ I’ve been messin’ with lately: tryin’ to figure out what makes Tom Holland tick creatively. It’s not like I’m a psychologist or anything, but I just watched a bunch of his interviews and movies, and one thing really jumped out at me.

It all started with me watching him on that lip sync battle. You know, the one where he does Rihanna’s “Umbrella”? Dude went all out! That got me thinkin’, it’s not just about bein’ a good dancer, it’s about takin’ a risk and not givin’ a damn what people think. So, I started diggin’ deeper.
First, I watched a load of interviews. I noticed he’s always up for a laugh, even when he’s talkin’ about serious stuff. He’s not afraid to look silly or make a mistake, and that’s a big deal. Think about it – if you’re constantly worried about lookin’ perfect, you’re never gonna try anything new.
Then, I started watchin’ all the behind-the-scenes stuff of his movies, especially the Spider-Man ones.
BOOM!
That’s where I got it. He always tryna improvise things, suggesting new stuff that wasn’t in the script, and the directors seem to like it. It’s like he’s always thinkin’ on his feet, tryin’ to find a better way to tell the story.

I wanted to see if I could apply this to my own life. I’m a total stickler for routines, so this was gonna be tough. I decided to start small. Every day, I’d try to do one thing differently. Take a different route to work, order somethin’ I’ve never tried before, just anything to shake things up.
The first few days were awkward, I ain’t gonna lie. I felt like I was forcing it, but after a while, it started to become more natural. I actually started enjoyin’ the surprises. You know that “fear of missing out” vibe? I wanted to change it to “Excited about missing out”, lol.
But the real kicker was when I started applyin’ it to my work. I’m a programmer, so most of my day is spent staring at lines of code. I decided to try to approach my projects with a bit more of that “Tom Holland” attitude. Instead of just followin’ the instructions, I started to try to think outside the box. I’m trying all types of new stuff like:
- I’m trying to see how much of my previous work I can recycle.
- I’m trying to find any work that I can automate.
- I’m trying to find ways to work smarter and more efficiently.
And guess what? It worked! I came up with some new solutions to old problems, and my boss actually noticed. He even asked me where I got my inspiration. I just shrugged and said, “I’ve been watchin’ a lot of Spider-Man movies.” He probably thinks I’m nuts, but hey, I don’t care!

So, if I had to sum it up, I’d say one characteristic for why Tom Holland is creative is his willingness to embrace the unexpected and not be afraid to look foolish. It’s about being open to new ideas and always tryin’ to find a better way to do things.
Now, I’m not sayin’ we should all start doin’ backflips and lip sync battles (unless you want to, then go for it!), but I do think we can all learn somethin’ from his attitude. Try somethin’ new, take a risk, and don’t be afraid to make a fool of yourself. You might just surprise yourself with what you’re capable of.
That’s it. Thanks for comin’ to my TED Talk, hahaha.
