Okay let’s get real about a situation nobody really prepares you for. Ghosts messing with the vibes, alright? Especially when things get weirdly sexual. Happened to me last month, freaked me right out. Here’s how I handled the mess.

Woke Up to Weirdness

So, I’m staying at my cousin’s old place near that big national park out west, helping clear it out. Beautiful spot, quiet, right? First week was fine. Then, boom. Woke up Tuesday 3 AM feeling like someone was breathing on my neck. Not cool air. Heavy, warm, almost… intimate? I’m not gonna lie, it felt like someone was trying to spoon me. From behind. Big nope. Shot up, lights on. Room empty, door locked. Heart pounding like a drum.

Trying to Logic It Out (And Failing)

Next day, told myself it was the wind, maybe a dream. Went about packing boxes. Then it got physical. Sitting at the dusty desk sorting photos? Cold fingers brushed my shoulder, firm, like a squeeze. Later, trying to nap? Distinct sensation of fingers trailing down my spine under my shirt. Actual goosebumps everywhere. Felt way too deliberate, way too personal. Started jumping at shadows.

Getting Serious with the Steps

Alright, enough is enough. Time to stop being scared and start doing something. Here’s exactly what I did:

  • Stood My Ground: Felt the weird pressure on the bed again? Didn’t run. Sat up straight and said OUT LOUD, super firm: “I see you’re here. Whatever you’re doing? STOP. This isn’t welcome. My space. My rules.” Felt stupid, but damn it, I meant it.
  • Cleaned House (Literally & Figuratively): Opened every window in that room. Bright sunlight streaming in. Vacuumed under the bed, moved all the furniture, shook out the curtains. Sprayed some strong citrus cleaner everywhere – just for the psychological boost, maybe? Didn’t care. Wanted the air fresh and full of ME, not weird ghost vibes.
  • Set the Mood (For Me, Not Them): Found a super bright lamp I could keep on low all night. Put on my favorite, cheerful music playlist whenever I was in there working. Got this strong smelling eucalyptus and mint spray I love – used it liberally. Basically made the room scream MY territory.
  • Told People: Called my cousin right after the “spooning” incident. Was embarrassed as hell. “Hey, um, something weird’s happening…” He wasn’t surprised. Turns out, another relative stayed there years back and complained about being touched in the same room. Wish I’d asked sooner!

The Outcome (For Now)

Took about four days. The touches? Stopped cold after the firm talk and the cleanup blitz. The creepy “breathing” near my neck? Gone the day I kept the window cracked open with sunlight pouring in. Last week there, still felt watched sometimes, but no more unwelcome “advances”. Place just felt… old and dusty again. Relief doesn’t begin to cover it.

Look, am I an expert? Hell no. But I learned the hard way: ignoring it makes it worse. Pretending you’re not creeped out gives them power. You gotta speak up, even if it feels nuts. Clean your space hard. Make it bright, smell how YOU like. Tell someone. It sounds simple, but actively taking charge of the environment and your boundaries? That’s the basic guide you need. Trust me, just wanting it to go away doesn’t work. You gotta show it the door, loudly.
