Okay, so, the other day I had this thing on my mind about whether you could get a Pap smear while on your period. I mean, it’s a valid question, right? So I decided to dive deep into it and figure it out myself.

First, I tried to make an appointment with my doctor, I tried to book the appointment when I didn’t have my period because I read somewhere it’s the best choice. But you know, life happens, and my schedule was all over the place. I thought, “What the heck, let’s see what happens if I just go in during my period.”
So, I went in, feeling a bit weird about the whole thing. But then, when I started to worry about that, my doctor, she’s super chill, was like, “No biggie, we can still do the exam.” I was surprised! She explained that they see this all the time. It’s their job, after all. They even mentioned that, yeah, it might be a bit messy, but they have ways to deal with it.
During the exam, honestly, it felt pretty much the same as any other time. I mean, except for the fact that I knew I was on my period, obviously. She took the samples or something like that from my cervix just like always – I guess that’s how they check for any weird cells and stuff.
And you know what? After it was all done, I felt kind of relieved. Like, I had this question in my head for so long, and now I finally had the answer from my own experience. And turns out, it wasn’t as big of a deal as I thought it would be.
So, if any of you are wondering the same thing, from my experience, yeah, you can get a Pap smear on your period. But, it might be better to go when you’re not on it, just to make things a bit easier for everyone. I also tried to avoid the 2 days before my period, it seems make a little bit sense.

In the end, though, don’t stress too much about it. Doctors have seen it all, and they’re there to help you out, no matter what time of the month it is.
