Alright, so, I wanted to get to know this guy, Michael McNulty, a bit better. I mean, who is he, really? I decided to use a little trick I picked up – asking a bunch of questions.

First, I wrote down a list of 20 questions. It felt a bit much, so I thought, “Okay, let’s make it simple.” I then tried to find some good questions online. There are tons of articles about this stuff, you know, like “70 questions to ask your friends” or “60 icebreakers for adults”.
Then I started asking him these questions. Not all at once, of course, I just picked a few and threw them into our conversations here and there. Stuff like, “What’s your favorite hobby?” or “If you had a superpower, what would it be?” Pretty basic stuff, but it helped break the ice.
- Questions asked include:
- If you had a superpower, what would it be?
- What’s your favorite hobby?
- Where did you grow up?
I also found some tips online about how to make the conversation more interesting. Things like listening carefully and not interrupting. Common sense stuff, really.
Through these chats, I started to learn more about him. His likes, dislikes, his talents, his quirks, you name it. It was like slowly piecing together a puzzle.

In the end, I realized that getting to know someone is not about the number of questions, but how you use them to build a connection. And I think I did a pretty good job with Michael. We’re still chatting, and I’m still learning new things about him every day.
