Okay, so I was digging through some old files today and stumbled upon a folder labeled “2016 memes.” Man, that brought back some memories! I decided to dive in and see what treasures I could unearth. It was a wild ride, let me tell you.

First, I started sifting through the images. The first one that popped up was “Dat Boi.” Remember that little green frog on a unicycle? I spent a good chunk of time trying to figure out where that even came from. Turns out, it started gaining traction around April. I found a bunch of variations of it – people had really run wild with that one.
Then I moved on to videos. There were a ton of those “Joe Biden prankster” memes. Oh boy, those were the days. I watched a few of them, and they were a good laugh – especially since it was a tough time with all the Trump stuff. It was like people were trying to find humor in a pretty crazy political climate. I spent maybe an hour just going through different versions of those.
It wasn’t all silly stuff, though. I remembered 2016 was also the year we lost Muhammad Ali and Prince. Man, that was rough. But then I remembered some good stuff that came out that year, too. There were some great TV shows like “Insecure,” “Atlanta,” and “Queen Sugar.” I actually binged all of “Atlanta” again a few months back. And Chance the Rapper dropped some new music that year, too. I listened to a few tracks to reminisce a little. It was a good way to remember the positive things from that year.
The Mannequin Challenge

This was a fun one. I clicked through a bunch of Mannequin Challenge videos. People got so creative with it! There was one where a whole classroom froze mid-action. It was epic!

I even tried to get my family to do one with me, but they just looked at me like I was crazy. Maybe I’ll try again later. It’s worth another shot.

I probably wasted a good two hours just watching these, but it was worth it. It really captured the spirit of the time, you know? People just having fun and being silly online.
Overall, it was a fun little trip down memory lane. 2016 was a weird year, for sure, but the memes were definitely a highlight. It’s funny how these little internet jokes can bring back so many memories. I closed the folder feeling a little nostalgic, but also pretty amused. Might have to do this again sometime with another year’s memes.
