So last Tuesday I was scratching my head about a buddy’s birthday gift – something funny but not trashy, you know? Scrolled through Pinterest for hours, saw some Adam and Eve themed dessert pics, and bam! Idea hit me. Why not make edible gift sets? Cheeky but classy.
Gathering the Stuff
First thing next morning, hustled to Bulk Barn for supplies:
- Clear plastic bags that seal tight
- Green ribbon that looks kinda leafy
- Miniature plastic snakes – seriously, found these in the toy aisle
- Shiny red apple stickers
Couldn’t find actual figs anywhere so grabbed fig-flavored cookies instead. Close enough!
The Assembly Disaster
Back in my kitchen disaster zone, spread everything on the counter:
Step 1: Made apple-shaped cookies first. Pro tip? The damn cookie cutter got stuck every time. Flour went everywhere like a snowstorm. Gave up halfway through and bought apple biscuits instead.
Step 2: Stuffed bags with goodies – two cookies (Adam and Eve!), snake toy, and those fig cookies.
Step 3: Tried tying fancy ribbons. Looked like a preschool craft project. Watched three YouTube tutorials just to make basic bows.
Step 4: Slapped apple stickers on each bag. Half peeled off immediately. Total mess.
Labeling Nightmare
Wanted cute tags saying “Bite Me” but our printer jammed like it was protesting. Handwrote them instead – looked like chicken scratch. Added little jokes:
- “Don’t blame the snake!”
- “Original sin never tasted so good”
My handwriting made the jokes even funnier honestly.
Party Time!
Brought them to the BBQ bash feeling kinda shy. Everybody cracked up immediately. One mate bit the plastic snake thinking it was candy – still roasting him for that. Best part? The birthday guy kept saying “This beats socks any day!” while feeding the snake toy to his dog.
Moral? Sometimes messy ideas turn out perfect. Might try Noah’s Ark snack packs next year – animal crackers in pairs inside little boats. If I can find tiny giraffes.
