So yeah, yesterday I ran into this totally annoying thing where the Fitside app or maybe it was the damn fitting instructions themselves – honestly it was all blurry – screamed at me that “DICK IS TOO WIDE”. Not exactly helpful, right? Like, how wide is too wide? No clue. Just this angry red error flashing. Typical.

The Problem Drove Me Nuts
Okay, step one was pure panic. I had this assembly in front of me, a bunch of plastic and metal bits that absolutely needed to fit into this slot. Looked fine to me! But nope. Kept shoving it in, wiggling it, turning it upside down. Still got the “DICK TOO WIDE” slap in the face. Super frustrating. Took a deep breath. Decided blaming the app wouldn’t get me anywhere. Needed actual measurements.
Grabbed my trusty old, kinda beat-up digital calipers off the bench. Felt heavier than usual. Started measuring the damn part it kept complaining about – let’s just call it the “problem piece”. Measured it three times, right in the middle where the slot should grab it. Each time, my calipers settled on…10.05mm. Okay. So that was my starting point, my base “dick width”. Feeling slightly ridiculous saying that out loud, even to myself.
What I Actually Did
Time for action. Couldn’t just stare at numbers. Here’s what went down:
- Checked the Slot: Measured the actual slot it was supposed to fit into. Calipers barely squeezed in there, felt clumsy. Readout showed… 9.97mm. Oh. So the problem piece was definitely fatter than the hole by, like, 0.08mm. Damn tight tolerance.
- Sandpaper Time (Round One): Found some 220-grit sandpaper, felt coarse but okay. Started sanding down the sides of the problem piece. Did it slow, steady, turning it in my fingers constantly. Goal was just to take off a tiny bit. Measured again after a couple of minutes. Down to 9.98mm. Got excited.
- Got Slapped Again: Tried fitting it. Went in a bit easier, stopped halfway. Fitside still flashing that red “TOO WIDE” message like a dang ambulance light. Cursed under my breath. Needed to go smaller, obviously.
- Sandpaper Time (Round Two): Switched to finer 400-grit sandpaper this time. Needed more control. Sanded even slower, barely touching it. Measured obsessively after every few passes. Hit 9.95mm. Measured the slot again just in case: still 9.97mm. So now the piece was smaller than the hole by a tiny fraction – that’s what I wanted! Dry fit felt loose! Promising.
- The Moment of Truth: Tried the actual assembly with the newly shrunk dick. Held my breath. Wiggled it… gentle push… felt it move… and it slid right in. No grinding, no forcing. Perfectly flush. Checked the app… no red lights, no angry messages! Just a happy little green tick. Yes! Finally!
What Actually Worked
Turns out, the key was simple (but tedious):
- Measure the REAL sizes of BOTH parts (problem piece AND its hole) – don’t trust the plan.
- Use finer sandpaper later on. Starting coarse is okay to take bulk off, but fine grit is crucial for the final perfect fit without going too far.
- Measure like a maniac after every single step. Seriously. Every few strokes with the sandpaper.
- Aim to make the pin slightly SMALLER than the hole. That tiny gap is what lets it slide without jamming. That 0.02mm difference saved my sanity.
So yeah, Fitside yelling “DICK TOO WIDE” was basically screaming “Your part’s too big for the hole, dummy!” The fix was just manually, carefully shaving it down until it wasn’t so damn wide anymore. Annoying to figure out, super satisfying to get it sliding smooth.
