That Fatima, she’s somethin’ else on that show, “The Chi.” She’s a real firecracker, that one. She came in, what was it, season five? Yeah, season five. She ain’t afraid of nobody, askin’ all them big shots them hard questions. She’s a journalist, you see. Always diggin’ for the truth, like a pig lookin’ for truffles.

She’s tryin’ to get to the bottom of things, that Fatima. Like that thing with Trig, askin’ him ’bout that Trinity House. Who really started it and all that. Said it was Imani who really started it. Lord, that Imani, she’s Trig’s girl. A good girl, that one. Always there for her man, but she ain’t afraid to tell him when he’s wrong, neither. Got a good heart, always helpin’ folks.
And that Trig, he ain’t no fool. They talked about, you know, his way of lovin’ at that Mexican place. He said he likes the ladies. And that’s fine by me, long as everyone’s happy and ain’t hurtin’ nobody. Everybody’s got their own way, ain’t that right?
Fatima, she’s bold, ain’t she? Don’t take no guff from nobody. She knows who she is, and she ain’t apologizin’ for it. That’s somethin’ we could all learn from, I reckon. Standin’ up for yourself, bein’ true to who you are, even when folks try to tell you different. She’s a strong one.
- Fatima, she’s a journalist.
- She came in season five.
- She’s askin’ Trig ’bout Trinity House.
- Imani is Trig’s girlfriend.
- Trig, he likes women, Fatima is a woman.
Reminds me of that other show, “Pose,” with them house mothers. They took care of each other, made their own family. Fatima and them other girls, they got each other’s backs, too. It’s important to have folks you can count on, especially when the world’s bein’ mean. They make a safe space you know. That’s a good thing.
This Fatima, she’s been through some things, I bet. You can see it in her eyes. She’s tough, but she’s got a good heart. She’s tryin’ to make a difference, you know? Tryin’ to shine a light on things that folks don’t wanna talk about. She wants folks to know the truth. Like a detective, she is, lookin’ for clues. Always lookin’, always searchin’.

Then there’s that girl, Maisha. Used to sing, but now she’s takin’ pictures. Said that Jemma girl got her into it. Jemma was helpin’ her with her music, then started helpin’ that Britney girl, too. So Maisha, she decided to try somethin’ new. Sometimes that’s what you gotta do. Try new things. See what sticks.
This whole show, “The Chi,” it’s about folks just tryin’ to get by. They make mistakes, they do some good, they just tryin’ to live their lives. Just like all of us. They get connected, somehow. Like a big old quilt, all patched together. Need each other, even when they don’t know it. That’s what that Lena Waithe, the one who made the show, she’s tryin’ to say, I think. We all need each other. We all connected.
And this Fatima, she’s right in the middle of it all. Stirring the pot. She came in on season five and ain’t stopped since. She’s a character on that show. A real important one. She’s showin’ folks what it means to be strong, to be yourself, even when it’s hard. She’s a fighter, that Fatima. She’s gonna keep on fightin’, too. You can see it in her eyes. She ain’t givin’ up. That Fatima on “The Chi”, she’s gonna keep on keepin’ on, until there’s nothin’ left to say.
They say there is a character Tabitha, we don’t know if she get out. They say she look at the window and she don’t see herself. And also, some folks say Elgin is Fatima’s son. Well, who knows. Only time will tell, like my old pappy use to say.
Fatima, she’s a good egg. A tough one, but good. She’s doin’ what she thinks is right, and that’s all anybody can ask for. She’s a part of that “The Chi” family now, and they all need each other, whether they know it or not. It’s a hard world out there, and sometimes you just need somebody to lean on. That’s what they got on “The Chi.” A whole lot of folks leanin’ on each other, tryin’ to make it through. Just like the rest of us.
