Okay so today I was thinking about SpongeBob, right? And specifically Mr. Krabs. Dude’s cheap, everyone knows that. But evil? Like, proper evil moments? I wanted to see if I could actually remember the worst ones, the ones that make you go “Whoa, that’s messed up even for him.” So, I figured, gotta watch some episodes and actually document these things, like properly.

Getting My Stuff Together
First off, I grabbed my laptop. Fired up my streaming app. Man, finding specific SpongeBob episodes can be annoying. They’re all mixed together. Typed in “SpongeBob SquarePants” and just braced myself for scrolling. Knew I needed episodes where Krabs does some truly horrible stuff, not just regular cheap stuff like reusing napkins.
Started searching by titles I vaguely remembered: “The Sponge Who Could Fly”, “Shellback Shenanigans”, that kind of thing. Honestly, just looked for any episode description mentioning Krabs doing something extreme to make money or screw someone over.
Diving Into the Depths of Krusty Krab Greed
Loaded up “Born Again Krabs” first. Found the scene where Mr. Krabs literally sells SpongeBob’s soul to the Flying Dutchman for, like, 62 cents. Yeah. Sixty-two cents. I rewound it twice. Dude signed a contract for his employee’s immortal soul for pocket change. That’s next-level awful. Typed it into my notes app: “Sells Soul for Pennies”.
Next, hunted down “The Sponge Who Could Fly.” Remembered the part where Krabs sees SpongeBob floating after eating too many Krabby Patties and thinks… admission fee. He doesn’t help SpongeBob; he makes posters charging the fish of Bikini Bottom TWO DOLLARS to see the ‘Amazing Flying Sponge’. Even pushes down Patrick trying to get a better view himself! Made a new note: “Monetizes Near-Death Experience”.
Then, I remembered “Shellback Shenanigans.” This one’s subtle evil. Krabs finds out Sandy accidentally sold him a super rare dollar for just one dollar. Instead of doing anything remotely fair, he actively tricks her. Uses SpongeBob to distract her while he sneaks the dollar bill out of her wallet, just so she can’t get it back. Stole from someone he got the bargain from! Added: “Steals Bargain from Bargainer”.

Oh man, and how could I forget “Ghost Host”? Krabs wants to save money on electricity so bad, he makes SpongeBob and Squidward sleep at the Krusty Krab. Then, to scare them into staying there permanently (so he never has to pay heating for his own house!), he dresses up as a ghost and terrorizes them all night. Dude was willing to psychologically torture his employees to save a few bucks on utilities. Wrote down: “Ghost Scam for Free Nightwatch”.
Had to include “Pest of the West.” Krabs discovers SpongeBob’s bubble-blowing soap is attracting pests. His solution? Sell tickets to watch SpongeBob get swarmed! “Krusty Krab Kitchen Arena: SpongeBob vs. The Critters of Doom!” Pure exploitation.
The Aftermath & Realization
After watching all this, scribbling notes, I was kinda shocked. Like, I knew he was greedy, but seeing these moments lined up? It’s brutal. The guy has no bottom. My final list felt way longer than I expected.
Here’s the thing: Nickelodeon keeps putting this guy out there. Kids watch this! They see the owner of the place where the hero works constantly doing these horrible, exploitative things for literal pennies. And he almost never gets any real comeuppance! He usually ends up fine or even richer!
I mean seriously! Think about it:

- Sells his best employee’s soul? Check.
- Charges admission to see said employee near death? Check.
- Steals from someone who sold him a bargain? Check.
- Terrorizes his staff to save on home bills? Check.
- Monetizes his staff being eaten alive? Check.
Dude’s the definition of a cartoon villain wearing a restaurant owner costume. Makes you wonder what they were thinking making him such a constant antagonist. Anyway, that’s my deep dive into the truly rotten core of Eugene H. Krabs. Shudder-worthy stuff, man.
