Okay, so I’ve been seeing this question pop up everywhere lately: Do women actually like mustaches? I mean, it’s 2024, and facial hair trends are always changing. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and get to the bottom of this burning question myself.

First, I had to grow one. As I am in a military program and a mustache is the only facial hair really allowed. Luckily, I’ve got the kind of genes that let me sprout a decent amount of facial hair in a few weeks. Then I started hitting the streets, and that’s when things got interesting.
I decided to start with the most convenient sample group – the women I see every day. So, I asked my female coworkers, friends, and even my mom. My mom, bless her heart, said she loved it because it reminded her of my dad back in the day. My friends were a bit more, and they said that I should keep it well-groomed. So I bought some of those men’s facial hair oils, pomades, and conditioners. My female coworkers were surprisingly positive! I got a lot of compliments and curious questions.
Feeling a bit more confident, I decided to take my mustache out on the town. I went to a few bars and coffee shops, and a few women gave me some smiles and a few even struck up conversations. I didn’t have any trouble getting a date, I’ll tell you that!
I also tried out some dating apps, just to see if my ‘stache would be a swipe-right or swipe-left situation. I made sure my profile pic prominently featured my glorious upper lip fur. The results? Pretty good! I got a decent number of matches and some opening messages that specifically mentioned my mustache in a positive way.
Now, for the more organized part of my experiment. I created an online survey. I shared it on my social media, asked friends to share it, and even posted it on a few forums. I got a few hundred responses, which was a good enough sample size for my very unofficial study. And guess what? Over half of the women who responded said they were into mustaches!
The Results
- 57.19% of the women surveyed said they preferred men with facial hair.
- Out of those, a significant number specifically mentioned mustaches as their favorite type of facial hair.
- The majority agreed that a well-groomed mustache was key.
- A small percentage said they weren’t fans, but even some of them admitted that it depended on the guy and the style of the mustache.
So, there you have it, folks. Based on my very thorough and totally scientific investigation, it seems like mustaches are definitely not a deal-breaker for most women. In fact, they can be a real asset! But remember, it’s all about keeping it neat and owning it. If you’re thinking about growing a mustache, I say go for it. You might be surprised at the positive attention you receive!
At least, that was my experience. And the ladies seem to agree – a well-maintained mustache can be pretty awesome. Paired with a good kisser, beyond awesome. But those badly kept mustaches that smell like food, no thanks. So if you keep it clean, you’ll probably be fine!
I might even keep mine for a while longer. It’s kind of grown on me, both literally and figuratively.
