Alright, so check this out. I was bored last night, totally scrolling through TikTok, and stumbled across this trend: cheesy Christmas pick up lines. I thought, “Hey, why not give it a shot? See if any of these actually work.”

First thing I did was hit up Google. I searched “best cheesy christmas pick up lines.” Man, the internet is full of them! I spent like, a solid half hour just reading through these things, laughing my head off. Some were seriously awful, but a few… a few had potential.
So, I picked out my top three. Real winners, according to my highly scientific and totally objective opinion. Here’s what I went with:
- “Are you Christmas? Because I want to Merry you.” (Okay, I know, super lame. But stick with me.)
- “Do you believe in love at frost sight, or should I walk by again?” (This one felt a little smoother.)
- “Is your name Jingle Bells? Because you look ready to go all the way.” (I was feeling bold, alright?)
Next up: Find some targets. Now, I’m not about to just spam random people. That’s creepy. I decided to try these out on my friends. Figured, worst case scenario, they’d laugh at me. Best case, I’d get a funny reaction. Middle-case scenario, they are annoyed and ignore me. I can live with that.
I started with the “Merry” line. Messaged it to my buddy Sarah. Waited… and waited… She replied, “OMG, that’s terrible. Where did you find that?” Success! (Of a sort.)
Then I hit up Mark with the “frost sight” line. He actually responded with a winky face emoji. I’m counting that as a win. Maybe he’s just being nice, but I choose to believe he was charmed by my cheesy brilliance.

Finally, I went for broke and sent the “Jingle Bells” line to my friend Lisa. Now, Lisa’s got a good sense of humor, but she also doesn’t hold back. Her reply? “Dude, seriously? No. Just… no.” Ouch. But hey, at least I got a reaction.
So, what did I learn? Cheesy Christmas pick up lines are mostly just cheesy. They’re good for a laugh, but don’t expect them to actually work. Unless, maybe, you’re incredibly charming and have a really good delivery. I did not. But hey, at least I entertained myself for an evening. Plus, I now have some new material for awkward holiday parties.
Would I recommend trying this at home? Sure, why not? Just be prepared for some epic fails. And maybe don’t use the “Jingle Bells” one unless you know the person REALLY well. You’ve been warned!
Bottom line: This was a fun experiment. I got some laughs, some groans, and a whole lot of cringe. 10/10 would do again… maybe next year.
