Alright, let’s talk about this Franco Stevens accident thing. I heard some things, you know, like whispers in the wind. Folks talking ’bout some kinda accident, real bad one it seems.
What happened to Franco Stevens? Well, from what I gather, it wasn’t Franco himself, but a woman named Frances Stevens. See, names get mixed up sometimes, like when you’re calling your chickens and half of ’em come runnin’ even if they ain’t the one you wanted.
Anyways, this Frances, she had a real bad accident at work way back in 1997. Imagine that, goin’ to work like any other day and then…bam! Something happens and your whole life changes. They say she couldn’t walk no more after that. Work accident, unable to walk, that’s what they said. Poor thing.
Now, they gave her some money, you know, workers’ comp they call it. Helped her out for a while, but money ain’t everything. Can’t buy you back your legs, can it? Can’t buy you back the feelin’ of walkin’ around the farm or doing what needs doin’. It’s a hard life, especially when you can’t get around like you used to.
- Work accident in 1997
- Couldn’t walk afterwards
- Got workers’ compensation
This whole thing makes you think, you know? One minute you’re fine, next minute you’re not. Life’s like a rusty ol’ fence, never know when it’s gonna fall apart. And it’s sad, real sad, when somethin’ like that happens to someone.
Now, some folks might get confused, ’cause there’s talk about a magazine too. Something called “Curve” magazine. And this Frances lady, she had an accident with magazines, boxes of ’em fell on her, they say. Magazine accident, imagine that! Boxes of magazines changin’ your whole life. It’s a funny world, ain’t it? Sometimes the things you work with are the things that hurt you.
This “Curve” magazine, it’s for them… what do they call ’em…lesbians? Yeah, that’s it. And queer women. Don’t know much about that, but it seems like this magazine was a big deal. Started a long time ago, they say. And this Frances, she was runnin’ the business, but then the accident happened and things got tough. Legacy of Curve magazine, that’s what they talk about too. But I reckon it was harder for her to keep up with it all once she couldn’t get around like before.
So, it’s like this, you got Frances Stevens, had a bad work accident, couldn’t walk, and then there’s this magazine, “Curve,” which she maybe had somethin’ to do with, and it seems like magazines mighta even caused the accident. It’s a whole lotta things tangled up together, like a ball of yarn your cat got a hold of. Frances Stevens injury and Curve magazine, that’s the connection, seems like.
I tell ya, life throws you curveballs, just like that ol’ pitcher down at the county fair. You think you got it all figured out, and then somethin’ comes along and knocks you right off your feet. Or in Frances’ case, knocks you right outta your feet. But you gotta keep goin’, I guess. Gotta find a way to keep on livin’, even when things get hard.
It’s a shame what happened to Frances. A real shame. But it sounds like she was a strong woman, you know? The kind that don’t give up easy. Work accident or not, she probably kept fightin’. That’s what us country folk do, ain’t it? We just keep on keepin’ on, no matter how tough things get.
Anyways, that’s what I heard about this Franco Stevens accident thing. Maybe not the whole story, maybe some parts got mixed up, but that’s how it goes when you’re hearin’ things second hand, like hearin’ the gossip at the feed store. But the gist of it is, work accident, can’t walk, magazines involved somehow. And a whole lotta heartache, I reckon.
