So this annoying wart showed up on my knuckle about three months back. At first I ignored it, thinking it’d go away on its own. Big mistake – that sucker just kept growing. Finally decided to fight back when it started snagging on my gloves during gardening.
My Kitchen Sink Approach
Started with duct tape cause everyone says it works. Cut tiny squares and slapped one on the wart religiously for two weeks. Changed it daily, soaked the wart in warm water before reapplying. The skin got all white and soggy, but the wart’s core stayed put like a stubborn rock.
Switched to apple cider vinegar next. Soaked cotton balls in ACV, taped them overnight. Oh man, that stung! Woke up twice with throbbing pain. After five nights, the wart turned black around the edges but still wouldn’t budge. Plus my sheets smelled like pickles.
The Pharmacy Run
Went to the drugstore and grabbed two things:
- Salicylic acid pads (looked like corn pads)
- Freeze spray kit (felt like holding a mini fire extinguisher)
Committed to the acid pads first. Each morning:
- Soaked wart in warm water 10 min
- Rubbed dead skin off with pumice
- Taped on fresh pad
After ten days, layers started peeling like an onion. But the roots ran deep.
The Final Showdown
Brought out the freeze spray. Held that nozzle 1cm from my skin for exactly 30 seconds like instructions said. Felt like getting stung by ice bees! Blister formed overnight. Kept applying freeze treatment every week for three rounds while continuing acid pads in between.
Week four: wart turned dark gray and shriveled. One morning while washing hands, the whole thing just sloughed off with dead skin. Pink new skin underneath looked kinda raw but definitely wart-free.
Now I’m just keeping the area moisturized and crossing fingers it doesn’t come back. Whole battle took nearly two months – patience really is key with these stubborn things.
