Okay, so, “candy lingerie,” huh? Let me tell you how I tackled this little project. It all started with a random scroll through Pinterest, you know how it is. Saw something cute, thought, “I could probably make that.” Famous last words.

First thing’s first, research! I spent a good chunk of an evening just looking at different styles, fabrics, and construction methods. I didn’t want anything too complicated, since my sewing skills are, shall we say, “enthusiastic” rather than expert. Ended up settling on a simple bralette and high-waisted panty set with lots of lace and ribbons. Think sweet, not scandalous.
Next up: materials. This is where things got a little tricky. I wanted something soft and comfortable, but also durable enough to hold up to, you know, being worn. I went with a lightweight stretch satin for the main body, and then a bunch of different laces for the trim. Black and pink. Found some super cute little bows and ribbon roses at the local craft store too. Oh, and don’t forget the elastic! That’s crucial for a good fit.
Cutting the fabric was probably the most stressful part. I used a pattern I found online, but honestly, it wasn’t great. I had to adjust it a lot as I went. Pro tip: always cut a size bigger than you think you need! You can always take it in, but you can’t add fabric back on. I learned that the hard way… twice.
Then came the sewing. Oh boy. My sewing machine and I have a love-hate relationship. Mostly hate when I’m trying to sew lace. It’s so slippery! I ended up using a lot of pins and going super slow. Lots of deep breaths were involved. But, eventually, I got the bralette mostly together. The elastic was a pain to attach, but I managed to get it on without too many puckers. For the panties, I basically just winged it. Cut out two rectangles, sewed them together, and then added elastic around the waist and legs. Not the most elegant construction, but it worked.
Finally, the fun part: embellishments! I added the lace trim to the bralette and panties, and then sewed on the little bows and ribbon roses. I went a little overboard, honestly. It ended up looking more like a candy store exploded than “candy lingerie,” but hey, that’s what I was going for, right?

The final result? Well, it’s definitely… something. It’s not perfect, by any means. The seams are a little wonky, the elastic is a little uneven, and there’s probably a bow too many. But, you know what? I made it! And it’s actually surprisingly comfortable. Would I wear it out on the town? Probably not. But would I wear it while lounging around at home, feeling cute and accomplished? Absolutely.
Here’s a list of what I think I learned in the process:
- Patience is key. Especially when working with lace.
- Don’t be afraid to experiment. Even if it means making mistakes.
- A glass of wine makes the whole process a lot more enjoyable.
- And most importantly, just have fun!
So, yeah, that’s my “candy lingerie” adventure. Would I do it again? Probably. Maybe with a slightly less ambitious design next time.
