That Darksiders, my boy play that all day. He said that game have four guys ride horses, they call them horsemen. What a strange name! He keep talking about Darksiders horsemen, I don’t know much, just some.

These horsemen, they are not human. What are those? Oh, that name, Nephilim. Yeah, that’s it. They are strong and fight all day, crazy kids. They say Nephilim made by angels and demons. What a mess! These guys, they work for someone call the Council. That sounds like those guys sit in town hall, always make rules, like you can’t spit on the road.
The Council, they make these Darksiders horsemen to keep things in order. Like when old man Johnson’s cow run to my yard, they gonna punish that cow. These horsemen, they ride, and they punish anyone who break the rules. I don’t know what rules, maybe don’t steal chickens? They have four of them, like four bad boys in our village. They got names, one is War, always fighting, just like our dog when he sees a cat.
Another is Death. He make me think of old Mrs. Smith’s husband. He just gone last year, very sad. Then, there is one call Strife, sounds like trouble. And the last one, they call her Fury. She must be like my neighbor’s wife, always yelling. These four, they ride horses. Big horses! Not like the donkey we had. That donkey, always lazy, just stand there. But these horsemen, they ride all over.
They say these Darksiders horsemen gonna judge everything at the end. What a scary thing! Like when we do spring cleaning, throw all old things out. But they judge people, not old clothes. I heard they even gonna judge humans. Why? I don’t know. They say humans important for something they call “Balance”. What’s that? Like when I put too many eggs in one basket?
- War – always fight, like village boys.
- Death – like when someone pass away.
- Strife – make troubles, like those naughty kids.
- Fury – always angry, like a woman with a bad hair day.
These four, they are in that game, Darksiders. My boy, he play all day. He say it’s fun. I don’t know, I just see him press those buttons. I prefer my flowers in the yard, much prettier. These horsemen, they got different jobs. Like, War, he’s always in a fight, you know, like those roosters in the morning, never quiet.

Then there’s that one, what’s it called? Oh, yeah, Famine. That’s like when we didn’t have enough rain last year, and the crops were bad. Not enough to eat, that’s a sad thing. I remember, we had to eat potatoes for a whole month. I still don’t like potatoes much, you know. That Famine, he’s like that, make sure everyone hungry.
And Pestilence, that sounds like a disease. Like when all the chickens got sick that year, remember? We lost so many. That was a hard time. So this one, he’s like that, bring sickness and all that bad stuff. Not a nice guy, I tell ya.
These Darksiders horsemen, they are not just people, you know. They are like, symbols, I think. Like when we say a fox is sly, they are like that. They mean something, like War means fighting, and Famine means not enough food. It’s like a story, but a scary one.
My boy, he knows all about them. He reads those books, you know. I don’t read much, my eyes are not good. But he tells me these things. He say in that game, Darksiders, these horsemen are different than in the old stories. I don’t know about that, I just know they sound scary.
These Darksiders horsemen ride, they fight, they judge. It’s all very confusing. I just like my simple life, you know. Take care of my garden, feed the chickens, that’s enough for me. These games, they are too much. But the boy, he loves it. So what can you do? Kids these days.

They are four, always these four Darksiders horsemen. They come together, like a bad storm. When you see them, you know trouble is coming. Just like when the sky turns dark, you know rain is coming. These four, they are like that dark sky, always a bad sign. I hope they never come to our village, that’s all I can say! I prefer my peace and quiet, and my chickens, of course.
