This thing called gender, it’s a real head-scratcher. You know, some folks, they’re born one way, but they feel another. Then there’s the rest of us, just kinda going with the flow, I guess. The other day, I saw this meme online, made me think. These young folks talkin’ ’bout trans and cis, what’s that all about?

What is Trans and Cis?
Well, as far as I can tell, trans, that’s short for transgender. That’s when someone’s born, say, a boy, but deep down, they feel like a girl. Or the other way around. It’s like they’re in the wrong body, you see. Then there’s cis. That’s just regular folks, I reckon. If you’re born a boy and you feel like a boy, you’re cis. Born a girl, feel like a girl, you’re cis. Simple as that, ain’t it? They said it’s a short word, but I don’t know where the long one is.
Talking About Gender
Now, talking ’bout this whole gender business, it can get tricky. You don’t wanna hurt nobody’s feelings. These transgender folks, they just wanna be seen for who they are. Like, if a fella says he’s a woman now, well, you call her a woman. It’s just being polite, really. It’s about what they feel, not what they are before.
That Meme
That meme I saw, it was something else. Had all these pictures, side by side. One side was, you know, regular folks, cis folks. Other side, the trans folks. And it was showin’ how people talk to ’em different. Like, they’d ask the trans folks all sorts of personal questions. Questions they wouldn’t dream of asking us regular folks. It ain’t right, really. Everyone deserves respect, don’t they? It’s like treating them differently, making them feel like they’re not normal. We should treat everyone the same, no matter what they are.
Being an Ally, They Say
There’s this word, ally. Means you’re on someone’s side, I guess. These young folks, they talk about being an ally to transgender people. It means you stand up for them, treat them right. Just like you would anyone else. It’s not that hard, is it? Just be kind, be understanding. We all got our own struggles, don’t we? So we need to be kind to everyone.
- Be kind, always.
- Treat people how you wanna be treated.
- Don’t ask nosy questions.
- Stand up for folks who need it.
- Gender is what’s inside, not what you were born as.
It’s All About Respect
At the end of the day, it’s all about respect. Treating everyone with kindness, no matter who they are or how they feel. This gender thing, it might be new to some of us, but that don’t mean we can’t learn. We gotta be open to new things, even if we don’t fully understand ’em. That’s what makes the world go ’round, ain’t it? Learning and growing together. Transgender, cisgender, it don’t matter. We’re all people, just trying to get by. So let’s be good to each other, okay? There’s already too much hate in the world. We don’t need more.

Understanding Each Other
I remember back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy words. Boy was a boy, girl was a girl. But times change, I guess. And maybe it’s a good thing. Maybe these transgender folks, they always felt this way, but they just didn’t have a word for it. Now they do, and they can finally be themselves. And that’s something to celebrate, ain’t it? It’s a big change for everyone. We should try to understand it.
It might not be what they were born with, but if someone says they are a different gender, who are we to tell them they are wrong? We should just respect what they feel. It’s about being who they truly are. If they are a trans woman, they are a woman. If they are a trans man, they are a man.
We should always support people, no matter they are cis or trans. We are all human, we all want to be happy, right? So we should help each other to be happy and be who they really are. That’s all I want to say, I think I talked too much already.
