Oh, honey, let me tell you about this thing. It’s like, right before my time of the month, I gotta pee all the time! It’s like my bladder’s got a mind of its own. Peeing a lot before period, that’s what I’m talking about.

I asked my neighbor, Maggie, about it. She said it’s probably them hormones, you know? They go up and down like a seesaw, making you feel all sorts of crazy. One minute you’re happy, the next you’re crying, and then bam! Gotta pee again. It’s like those hormones are playing tricks on your bladder.
And it’s not just needing to go, sometimes it feels like I gotta go right now. Like, I’m about to burst! I heard someone say it’s because that thing, your uterus, it gets bigger and pushes on your bladder. Makes sense, I guess. It’s like when you eat too much, and your tummy’s full, and you gotta loosen your belt. Same idea, I think. Those hormonal fluctuations. Ugh.
So, I’m always running to the bathroom. Day and night! It’s a real pain, especially when you’re trying to get some sleep. You finally drift off, and then, bam! Gotta pee again. It’s like there’s no peace for a woman. And those chemicals, like whatchamacallit, progesterone and prostaglandins, make me pee more.
- Gotta pee all the time
- Hormones going crazy
- Uterus pushing on the bladder
- No sleep, always running to the bathroom
And you know what else? Sometimes I think maybe I’m, you know, in the family way. Because that’s what happened to my daughter, bless her heart. She started peeing like a racehorse when she was expecting. So, every time I start feeling like this, I get a little nervous. Could be early pregnancy, who knows? Life’s full of surprises, ain’t it?
But most of the time, it’s just that time of the month coming. It is an early sign of pregnancy in the first couple of weeks. And it’s a real bother, this frequent urination. It makes you feel tired and grumpy. And it’s just one more thing to deal with, you know? We women, we got a lot on our plates. It happens in weeks 10 to 13 usually.

I’ve tried drinking less water, but that doesn’t help much. And then I just get thirsty, and that’s no good either. So, I just deal with it. I keep a little chamber pot by the bed at night, so I don’t have to walk all the way to the bathroom. It helps a little. It is normal for some women. It can happen in a 24-hour period.
Maggie, she told me there are things you can eat or drink that might help. Like, I don’t know, cranberries or something. She said they’re good for your bladder. Maybe I’ll give that a try. Anything’s worth a shot, right? And some phases like follicular phase and ovulation will affect your urination patterns.
This whole thing, it’s just one of those things us women have to put up with. Like wrinkles and gray hair. It ain’t pretty, but it’s part of life. You just gotta learn to live with it, I guess. And maybe those cranberries will help. Fingers crossed! Frequent urination is just part of a normal menstrual cycle.
Sometimes, I think maybe it’s something else, you know? Like a UTI or overactive bladder. My sister, she had a UTI once, and she said it felt like she had to pee all the time, but it burned when she went. Mine doesn’t burn, thank goodness. But still, you never know. Or maybe I should see a doctor, but who’s got time for that? Plus, they just poke and prod you, and it’s embarrassing. Or it is infections that interfere with hormone balance.
I’m just hoping it goes away on its own. Like a bad dream. And maybe I’ll try those cranberries. And if that doesn’t work, well, I guess I’ll just keep that chamber pot handy. A woman’s gotta do what a woman’s gotta do, right? And peeing a lot before period is just a woman thing.
