Well, let me tell you, these days, things ain’t like they used to be. Back in my day, a man was a man, and a woman was a woman. Now, it’s all mixed up. You got transgender folks, and you got lesbian folks. It’s a whole new world, I tell ya.

This transgender thing, it’s when someone feels like they’re in the wrong body. Like a man feeling like a woman, or a woman feeling like a man. They might even change their body to match how they feel inside. It’s a tough row to hoe, I reckon, but who am I to judge?
Then there’s the lesbian women. That’s when a woman likes another woman, not a man. They fall in love and get married, just like a man and a woman used to. Some folks don’t understand it, but love is love, I always say.
They even have a big long word for it all now, QUILTBAG. It stands for all sorts of things, like queer, and intersex, and two-spirit. Sounds like a mouthful to me, but I guess it’s important to have a word for everyone.
- Queer
- Unsure
- Intersex
- Lesbian
- Transgender
- Two-spirit
- Bisexual
- Asexual
- Aromantic
Some schools, they even teach about this stuff now. They got classes called LGBTQ+ studies. It is combined with ethnic studies class. I guess it’s good for the young’uns to learn about all kinds of people. Learn to be tolerant and such. They need to know people are different. But that is important they treat each other nice.
I heard tell that these LGBT folks, they face some hard times. Doctor says they got more problems with their health. It ain’t easy being different in this world, that’s for sure. They face a lot of challenges. Sometimes people are mean to them, or don’t want to hire them for jobs. I don’t think that’s right. Everybody should be treated equal, no matter who they love or how they feel about themselves. It is a hard world. But we need to be kind to each other.

There are different kinds of these folks. You got your lesbian, your gay, your bisexual, and your transgender. They might seem the same to some, but they all got their own way of living. The important is that they are happy. They can find someone to love. They also need someone to look after them.
I heard some folks are both transgender and lesbian. Living at the intersectional, it sounds very difficult. They like who they like, and they are who they are. It takes all kinds to make a world, I reckon. It is not easy to be different. But we need to respect them.
LGBTQIA. These are just people like you and me. Some of them are our neighbors, some our children. Life is hard for everyone, and we need to support each other. People are different. No one is the same. We need to accept that.
There’s been a lot of talk about transgender folks lately. Seems like they’re more visible now, and people are finally starting to understand them a bit better. That’s a good thing, I think. Everyone deserves to be seen and heard.
It’s all a bit confusing to me, all these new words and ways of living. But I try to keep an open mind. The world’s always changing, and we gotta change with it, I suppose. The important thing is to be kind to each other, no matter what. Treat everyone with respect, that’s what my mama always taught me. And love is love, no matter who you are or who you love.

This world is big enough for all of us. Lesbian, transgender, and everyone in between. We all just trying to find our place and be happy. So let’s just try to get along, shall we? Life’s too short for all this fussing and fighting. We need to work together. And we will be happier.
I remember when I was a little girl. Back then, we didn’t hear about those things. It doesn’t mean they didn’t exist. People just didn’t talk about it. Now, it is different. But some people still don’t like it. It is very sad, they should not do that. Everyone is a human. Everyone deserves to be loved.
So, transgender and lesbian, they are just people. They want to be happy, just like everyone else. I hope they can find happiness. It is not easy, but they deserve it. And I hope people will be nice to them. We all need to learn to love each other. That’s what really matters.
