Okay, so this is gonna be a raw one. Just documenting how things went down last Thursday when I started noticing signs that something wasn’t right.
Woke up that morning feeling kinda off. Like, super tired, more than usual, you know? Had this nagging ache low in my belly, similar to my usual period cramps but maybe a bit sharper. Put it down to maybe a weird night’s sleep or something I ate.
By lunchtime, though, things shifted. Went to the bathroom and… spotted. Like, actual pinkish stuff when I wiped. Not just the normal discharge. Felt my stomach drop right then. It wasn’t heavy, just… there. Told myself maybe it’s implantation bleeding or just random spotting. Been there before. Tried to ignore it and carry on with my chores.
But then, maybe an hour later, felt a gush. Ran back to the bathroom. Real bleeding started. Bright red this time. Soaking through the pad. And the cramps? Got way more intense. Sharp jabs now. Sat on the toilet feeling shaky, trying to breathe. Looked down at the pad and some small dark clots were there too. Kinda looked like coffee grounds mixed with the blood.
Panic really started hitting then. Called my doctor right away, voice all shaky. Explained everything:
- The pink spotting turning into heavy red flow.
- The bad cramps ramping up.
- Seeing dark tissue clots.
- Just that overall feeling of dread and shakiness.
Doc’s office told me to head straight to the Emergency Department. No messing about. Felt surreal packing a bag, feeling the bleeding get heavier as I walked. My pants got messy just getting to the car. Sat there in bloody jeans waiting for triage. The nurses were fast though once they heard the symptoms. They took me right back.
Hooked me up to some monitors. Did blood draws. Asked a million questions about dates and symptoms. The cramping was really intense at points, feeling like bad period waves. They finally did an ultrasound. The tech was quiet. Looked for a long time. Then the doctor came in. Just kinda shook his head. Said things looked empty, that my hormone levels were dropping quickly. Basically confirmed it was an early miscarriage happening right then.
They gave me meds for the pain and to help pass any remaining tissue. Told me to go home and rest, expect heavy bleeding and cramps for a few days. To call back if I soaked pads too fast or spiked a fever. Felt numb leaving the hospital. Empty.
Spent the next few days on the couch, bleeding heavily, passing tissue. It was rough physically and worse mentally. Just took it hour by hour.
Sharing this because spotting, especially turning red and heavy, plus getting bad cramps, really early on… plus seeing clots? That’s your cue to call the doc ASAP. Don’t wait. Don’t talk yourself out of it. Listen to your body screaming that something’s wrong. It saved me from worse complications getting checked that fast.
