Starting Point: The Awful Itch
Okay, look, I’m just gonna say it. A few weeks back, things felt seriously off down there. Major itch, weird discharge, you know the drill. Total mess. Went to my doc, obviously. Confirmed it: yeast infection. Fun times. Doc suggested OTC suppositories – the kind you shove up there before bed. Said the store brand was fine, but honestly? I wanted to see if others worked better. Figured I’d do a little… experiment. Here’s how that disaster went down.

Hitting the Pharmacy Aisles
First stop: the giant drugstore downtown. Holy cow, the choices! Entire shelf dedicated to this stuff. Names I recognized, names I didn’t. Felt overwhelmed. Snapped pics with my phone. Decided I’d try three different brands, one after another since the infection needed clearing. Price varied a lot, which surprised me. Brand names were definitely pricier.
- Brand X (The Expensive One): Nice box, had applicators included (fancy plastic things). Claims about “rapid relief” plastered everywhere.
- Brand Y (The Common One): Packaging looked familiar, kinda plain. No applicators included, directions said use finger. Cheaper, definitely.
- Brand Z (The ‘Natural’ One): Green packaging, words like “gentle” and “botanical.” Also no applicators. Price was mid-range.
Grabbed one box of each and practically ran to self-checkout hoping nobody saw me. Felt weirdly embarrassing.
The Application… Adventures?
Night one: Brand X. Okay, the applicator thing? Instructions made it look easy. Reality check: it was awkward as heck. Laying on my back, knees up, trying to aim… got it in eventually. Felt cold and kinda weird right after. Went to sleep praying.
Morning after: Oh. My. God. The leaking. Seriously gross. White, chunky stuff everywhere. Ruined my favorite PJ shorts. Supposedly normal, but damn. Itch was maybe a tiny bit less? Hard to tell.
Night two: Switched to Brand Y. Finger application. Not gonna lie, felt icky just thinking about it. Washed hands super good first. Creamier texture than X. Easier to get in place, actually, but felt messier right away. Went to bed feeling damp.

Morning after: Again with the leakage disaster! Different texture this time – oily. Still itchy. Starting to question this whole plan.
Night three: Brand Z. “Natural” route. Texture felt gritty? Like, little sandy bits almost. Used finger again. Didn’t feel cold, weirdly warm instead almost instantly. Thought “gentle” meant gentle. Nope.
Big Mistake: Within minutes, felt a serious burning sensation. Like tiny fires down there. Panicked! Jumped in the shower trying to wash it off. Didn’t help much. Barely slept.
Morning after: Leakage plus redness and that awful burn lingering. Itch felt worse! Total failure.
Throwing in the Towel
Stuck with Brand X and Brand Y for the full courses, like 3-7 nights each as per boxes. The leakage nightmare never fully stopped with either. Itch did slowly get better towards the end of Brand X and Y, but it took ages. Brand Z? Nah, threw that half-empty box straight in the trash after night one. Never again.

Overall Verdict? What a hassle. Both Brand X and Y eventually did the job symptom-wise, but the process sucked. Leaky, messy, uncomfortable. The applicator on X was slightly better than the finger method for Y, honestly, once I got the hang of it (kinda). Didn’t notice Brand X working way faster or better than the cheaper Brand Y though, despite the price. Maybe it did? Hard to tell.
The Biggest Lesson? Listen to your doctor first. I wasted time and cash experimenting. Next time, grabbing the store brand and toughing out the leaky side effects for fewer days feels smarter. This experiment felt more like punishment than science!
