So, yeah, the big question on some folks’ minds – does Planned Parenthood remove IUDs? Lemme tell ya, I was in that boat myself not too long ago. My IUD had been in there for a good while, and it was just time for it to come out. You know, sometimes you just get that feeling, or your body’s telling you something.

I started mulling it over, where to go. My regular doc is fine, but getting an appointment can be a whole thing, and I just wanted it done without a ton of fuss. Then it hit me – Planned Parenthood! They handle all sorts of women’s health stuff, so it made sense they might do removals too, right?

Figuring It Out and Making the Call

So, I did the super modern thing and, you know, looked up their number. Gave them a ring. The person who answered was really chill, super helpful. I just asked straight up, “Hey, I’ve got an IUD that needs to come out, is that something you guys do?” And they were like, “Yep, absolutely!” Just like that. We found a day and time that worked for me, and that was it, appointment booked. Honestly, it was way less hassle than I thought it might be.

The Actual Visit – What Went Down

Alright, so fast forward to appointment day. I showed up, went into the clinic. Place was clean, the vibe was pretty calm. Usual stuff, you know, fill out a couple of forms, wait for your name to be called. Nothing out of the ordinary.

When they called me back, the nurse I saw first was really nice. Asked some basic questions about my health, why I was getting the IUD out. Standard procedure. Then the doctor came in. She was great, took the time to explain exactly what was going to happen, what I might feel. She mentioned there might be some cramping, which I kinda expected. I appreciate when they’re straight with you.

Then came the moment of truth – the actual removal. I lay back on the table, kinda like when it got put in. The doctor was very gentle. There was definitely a sensation, a quick tug and a bit of a cramp. Not gonna lie, it wasn’t the most fun I’ve ever had, but it was over super quick. Like, blink and you’ll miss it fast. Before I knew it, she said, “All done, it’s out!”

After It Was Out

She even showed me the IUD, which was a bit weird but also kinda reassuring to see the little thing was actually gone! They gave me a sanitary pad and told me to expect some spotting or light bleeding, and maybe some more cramping for a day or so. Totally normal, they said. They also chatted briefly about other birth control options if I was thinking about that, but there was zero pressure, which was cool.

I walked out of there feeling a sense of relief, for sure. And yeah, I was a little crampy for the rest of the day, but nothing a heating pad and some chill time couldn’t fix.

So, to circle back to the original thought: Yes, Planned Parenthood definitely does IUD removals. My whole experience, from making the call to walking out after, was pretty straightforward and positive. The staff were all professional and kind. If you’re wondering about getting your IUD removed and considering them, based on my own little adventure, I’d say they’re a solid choice. That’s just my story, anyway!
