Okay, here’s my experience with the abortion pill and the, uh, less pleasant side effects. Buckle up, it’s not pretty.

My Abortion Pill Experience: The Throwing Up Part
So, I decided to go with the abortion pill. It felt like the right decision for me at the time. Went to the clinic, talked to the doctor, got the pills, and headed home. They told me about the potential side effects, but honestly, I didn’t really grasp how rough it could be.
First pill, mifepristone, was no big deal. Just swallowed it at the clinic. No immediate reaction. Felt fine, went home and chilled. Started getting a little anxious as the day went on, knowing what was coming next.
The next day was the one. Took the four misoprostol pills as instructed. I think I put them between my cheek and gums. They tasted nasty, kinda chalky. The instructions said to let them dissolve for like, 30 minutes. Did that, then swallowed what was left.
Cramping started within an hour. Not just period cramps, these were way worse. Like, doubled-over, can’t-breathe cramps. Took some pain meds, tried to distract myself with a movie. That helped a little, but the pain kept getting worse.
Then, the nausea hit. Hard. Waves of it, building and building. I ran to the bathroom, and yeah… projectile vomiting. Everything I had eaten that day, and probably the day before, came up. I was a mess. Just kept heaving, even when there was nothing left.

It was awful. My whole body was shaking, I felt weak and dizzy. Managed to crawl back to bed, but the nausea kept coming in waves. I threw up a few more times, just bile and stomach acid. My throat was burning, my stomach was aching, and I felt like complete garbage.
The cramping and the vomiting went on for hours. I honestly lost track of time. Just laid there in bed, alternating between writhing in pain and running to the toilet to throw up. It was the worst I had ever felt in my life.
Eventually, things started to slow down. The pain was still there, but it wasn’t as intense. The nausea subsided, and I was able to keep down some water. I was exhausted and drained, but the worst was over, physically anyway.
I know everyone’s experience is different, but that was mine. The throwing up was definitely the worst part for me. If you’re going through this, make sure you have someone with you, have plenty of fluids on hand, and just try to get through it. It’s gonna be rough, but it will eventually pass.
- Took pain meds early.
- Stayed hydrated with small sips.
- Tried to rest as much as possible.
- Had a bucket nearby, just in case.
- Wore comfy clothes.
The emotional part is a whole other story, but I’ll save that for another day. Just wanted to share my experience with the physical side effects, specifically the throwing up, because I wasn’t really prepared for how bad it would be. Hope this helps someone.
