Okay, so I wanted to put together some thoughts around Bible verses for Women’s Day. It wasn’t about just grabbing a list off the internet, you know? I wanted to actually go through the process myself, kinda reflect on it.

First thing I did was sit down with my own Bible. Felt more personal that way. I started thinking, okay, where do I even begin? The obvious place seemed like Proverbs, specifically Proverbs 31, the ‘virtuous woman’ bit. So, I flipped over there.
Reading Through Proverbs 31
I read through Proverbs 31 again. It’s powerful stuff, talks about strength, dignity, wisdom, hard work. Really paints a picture of a capable woman. Verses like “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come” (Prov 31:25) and “She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue” (Prov 31:26) stood out. I jotted those down.
But then I thought, that’s one specific picture. What about other aspects? What about courage, faith, resilience in different situations?
Looking for Other Examples
So, I started thinking about specific women in the Bible.

- Esther: Her story popped into my head. Real courage there, risking everything. That phrase “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14) always gives me chills. It speaks to purpose, stepping up when needed. Wrote that one down too.
- Ruth: Then I thought about Ruth. Her loyalty to Naomi is incredible. “Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay…” (Ruth 1:16). That’s about commitment, love, and faithfulness. Added it to my list.
- Mary, Mother of Jesus: Her acceptance and faith, “I am the Lord’s servant… May your word to me be fulfilled” (Luke 1:38). That’s huge trust and humility.
Broader Encouragement
Then I figured, it doesn’t always have to be a verse about a woman. Sometimes general verses of encouragement and strength are just what’s needed. So I started thinking about verses that empower anyone, including women.
Philippians 4:13 came to mind: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” That’s a classic for a reason, right? Universal strength.
And Jeremiah 29:11: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” That’s about hope, God’s care, looking forward.
I also remembered Psalm 46:5: “God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.” That one feels very direct and reassuring for women specifically.
Putting it Together
So, I ended up with a list, not just from one place, but pulled from different stories and contexts. Proverbs for capability and wisdom, Esther for courage and purpose, Ruth for loyalty, Mary for faith, and then some general verses for strength, hope, and divine support.
It felt like a more rounded collection this way, going through the actual stories and passages myself rather than just taking someone else’s word for it. It was a good exercise, actually spending that time thinking about these women and these words.
