Alright, so Valentine’s Day was creeping up, and I started thinking, gotta do something for Mom, right? She’s always there, deserves a shout-out.

First thing I did, I just opened up my browser. Typed in something basic like “valentine’s day quotes”. Man, the results were just flooded with all that super romantic stuff. You know, “my dearest love,” “soulmate,” all that jazz. That wasn’t gonna work for Mom. Felt kinda weird, honestly.
So, I went back to the search bar. Got more specific. Typed in “valentine day quotes for moms”. Okay, that narrowed it down. Started seeing stuff that made more sense.
Finding the Right Vibe
Some of the first ones I saw were… okay. A bit Hallmark-y, maybe? Like, “Roses are red, violets are blue, thanks for everything, Mom, I love you.” Fine, but kinda bland.
Kept scrolling. Saw some mentioning moms being like superheroes, always strong and supportive. That felt a little closer to home. My mom’s definitely bailed me out a few times, always got my back.
- Found one about always being there.
- Another one talked about appreciating everything she’s done.
- Some were from sons, some from daughters, tried to find something general.
It wasn’t about finding some super deep, poetic thing. Just wanted something warm, something that sounded genuine, you know? Not like I just grabbed the first thing Google showed me.

Making it Feel Real
I read through maybe ten or fifteen different ones. Some were too long, some just didn’t sound like something I’d actually say. It’s gotta feel natural, otherwise, what’s the point?
I almost thought about just writing something totally from scratch, but honestly, getting started is tough. So I looked for a simple one that captured the main idea – just being thankful and letting her know she’s loved.
Ended up picking one that was pretty straightforward about appreciation. Didn’t use it word-for-word, though. Tweaked it a little bit, added a specific little inside joke at the end, just to make it more personal. Felt much better that way.
So yeah, took a bit of digging through the cheesy stuff and the generic stuff, but I landed on something I felt good about writing in her card. Job done. She seemed to like it, that’s the main thing.
