Okay, so the other day I was messing around with this woodworking project, and it got me thinking: “is five inches enough?” I mean, it sounds like a decent size, right? But then you start actually working with the wood, and all these doubts creep in.
So, first, I grabbed a piece of pine I had lying around. It was way longer than five inches, obviously. I measured out the five inches with my trusty tape measure – gotta make sure it’s accurate, you know? Then, I used my saw – a handsaw, nothing fancy – and carefully cut along the line I’d marked.
Once I had my five-inch piece, I started to see if it would work. It didn’t. It was a bit too small for the other parts I had.
I needed to start over.
- I went back to the start.
- I grabbed another piece.
- I measured out about seven inches this time.
- I carefully sawed it off.
Take Two
There. Perfect. Now, It fit with other parts like a charm. It took a little bit of trial and error, a couple of messed-up cuts, but eventually, I made it. So, I decided to use the seven-inch piece for the whole project. Turns out, seven inches was the perfect size for what I needed.
Five inches, not so much, at least not for this.
