Okay, so today I’m gonna talk about a little project I did – writing a letter to my dad. Yeah, it sounds simple, but it turned out to be a pretty big deal for me. I mean, I love my dad, but we don’t always say it out loud, you know?
So, I got this idea from seeing something online about expressing love to your parents. I thought, “Why not?” I figured it was a good time to just put my feelings down on paper. First, I grabbed a notebook and a pen. I didn’t want to type it; felt too impersonal. I wanted it to be, like, really from me, you know, with my own handwriting and everything.
Brainstorming Time
Then came the hard part – actually writing the thing. I started by just jotting down some ideas. Things I appreciate about my dad, good memories we have, stuff like that. I wrote down stuff like “always there for me,” “taught me how to ride a bike,” “best fishing trips ever,” you know, just random thoughts.
- Memories: I made a list of all the good times we’ve had. Like, remember that time we went camping and it rained the whole time? We still had fun, though.
- Gratitude: I wrote down all the things I’m thankful for. He’s always been so supportive, even when I make dumb mistakes.
- Just saying “I love you”: It sounds cheesy, but it’s important. We don’t say it enough.
Drafting and Redrafting
After that, I started writing the actual letter. It was messy at first, all over the place. I kept crossing things out and rewriting them. I probably spent a good couple of hours just trying to get the words right. I wanted it to be genuine, not too sappy, but still heartfelt, you get me?
I read it out loud a few times, which felt kinda weird, but it helped me see if it sounded natural. I didn’t want it to sound like some formal letter, but more like I was just talking to him. I changed a few things here and there, added some more personal touches, and finally, I had something I was happy with.
The Final Touches
I wrote the final version on a nice piece of paper, folded it up, and put it in an envelope. I even drew a little doodle on the back, just for fun. I haven’t given it to him yet, but I’m planning to soon. I’m a little nervous, not gonna lie, but I think he’ll appreciate it. It’s a small thing, but I think it’ll mean a lot to both of us. A smile and a warm touch, that’s all I need.
