Okay, so today I’m gonna talk about my little adventure with durian, specifically this “lollobrigida” kind. Now, I’ve heard folks call durian the “king of fruits,” and let me tell you, it’s got a reputation. It’s big, spiky, and boy, does it have a smell!

First off, I went to the market to get my hands on one of these bad boys. They’re pretty hefty, about a foot long and half a foot wide. The one I picked up was a nice green color with those signature spikes all over it. It was quite heavy, I think it was nearly 3kg. And man, the smell, it hit me right away. Some people love it, some hate it. I was curious, to say the least.
Once I got it home, I was ready to crack it open. Getting through that tough skin was a bit of a workout. I used a big knife and carefully sawed through it. Inside, there were these big pods of fruit, all creamy and yellowish. I’d say there were about 2 cups worth of fruit in there.
- Step 1: Get the durian. Find a good one at the market. Look for the spiky, green ones.
- Step 2: Bring it home. Brace yourself for the smell, it’s strong!
- Step 3: Open it up. Carefully cut through the tough skin with a knife.
- Step 4: Get the fruit. Scoop out those creamy, yellow pods.
The Taste Test
Now, for the moment of truth, the taste. I took a bite, and wow, it was something else. It’s hard to describe, really. Kind of sweet, kind of savory, with a creamy texture. It’s definitely an acquired taste. I’ve heard people say it’s like eating custard in a garbage dump, but I wouldn’t go that far. It was interesting, I’ll give it that.
I also read that durian is packed with nutrients, more so than most fruits. So, it’s not just about the taste, it’s good for you too. All in all, trying durian “lollobrigida” was quite the experience. It’s a unique fruit, that’s for sure. If you’re feeling adventurous, give it a shot. Just be prepared for that smell!
So, that was my durian adventure. It’s not every day you get to try something so… different. I might not be a durian lover yet, but I’m glad I tried it. Maybe next time, I’ll go for a different variety. Who knows, maybe I’ll become a durian fan after all.

That’s it for my fruity experiment today. Hope you enjoyed this little story. Stay tuned for more of my random adventures!
