Okay, so yesterday, I decided to spice up my dating life a bit and dive into the world of Hinge. I’ve heard a lot about these prompts and how they can really make or break your profile, so I thought, why not give it a shot? I mean, anything’s better than the usual “Hey” or “How’s your day?” right?
I started by scrolling through the available prompts. There were so many to choose from, but I wanted to pick ones that really showed off my personality. You know, something funny, a bit quirky, but also genuine. I ended up choosing three prompts:

Now, the real fun began – crafting the answers. For the first one, “First round is on me if…”, I wanted to say something that would make someone laugh and also show that I’m up for a good time. I wrote, “First round is on me if you can beat me in a thumb war. ” It’s silly, I know, but it’s also a fun, low-stakes challenge. I also tried “First round is on me if you can make me laugh”, that’s a good one too!
For the second prompt, “I’m overly competitive about…”, I decided to go with something that’s true but also a bit embarrassing. I put, “I’m overly competitive about getting the closest parking spot. I will circle the lot five times if I have to.” Hopefully, it shows that I don’t take myself too seriously.
Lastly, for “My most irrational fear is…”, I wanted to be a little vulnerable but also keep it light. I wrote, “My most irrational fear is being trapped in a room full of people chewing loudly. The horror!” It’s weird, I know, but it’s something that genuinely freaks me out. I also tried “My most irrational fear is accidentally liking someone’s post from 52 weeks ago while stalking them. Oops!”
The Result
After setting up my profile with these prompts and answers, I started getting matches and messages. And let me tell you, the conversations were so much more interesting than the usual small talk. People were actually engaging with my answers and sharing their own funny stories. One person even challenged me to a thumb war right off the bat! I also get several messages like “Oh I can definitely make you laugh”, that’s cute!
I even got a match that said, “I also fear being trapped in a room full of people chewing loudly, we should avoid those rooms together.” It was hilarious and instantly made me feel like we had something in common.
All in all, I’d say my little experiment with Hinge prompts was a success. It made online dating feel a lot less tedious and a lot more like, well, fun! I highly recommend giving it a try if you’re on Hinge. Just remember to be yourself, pick prompts that resonate with you, and don’t be afraid to show off your sense of humor.
