349 E 149th St: Find Your Dream Home Today!

## 349 E 149th St: My Little Adventure

So, 349 E 149th St, huh? It all started when I needed to find a decent and affordable place in the city. I was tired of my old apartment; the noise was driving me nuts.

I started my search online, you know, the usual Zillow, Apartments dot com, all that jazz. I saw a listing at 349 E 149th St that looked promising. It was a studio, but hey, location seemed good and the price was right. I thought, “Why not?”.

I immediately called the number listed and spoke with a guy who sounded like he was in a rush. He told me to meet him there the next day at noon. Fine, whatever. I marked it on my calendar.

The next day, I hopped on the train and headed up to the Bronx. I got off the subway and walked over to 349 E 149th St. The area was… interesting. Let’s just say it had character. There were a lot of small businesses, people hustling, and the energy was definitely there.

When I got to the building, it was a bit of a letdown. It wasn’t exactly what I saw in the photos. The outside looked kinda run-down, but I tried to keep an open mind. I waited around for about fifteen minutes, and the guy I talked to finally showed up. He was even more rushed in person!

He fumbled with the keys, and we went inside. The lobby was… well, it existed. We took the stairs up to the apartment – the elevator was out of service, naturally. The apartment itself was tiny! Like, really tiny. It was clean-ish, but definitely needed some work. The bathroom was cramped, the kitchen was basically a glorified corner, and the windows looked out onto a brick wall. Awesome view.

  • First, I checked the bathroom. The sink was leaky, and the tiles were cracked.
  • Then, the kitchen. The fridge looked ancient.
  • After that, I took a look at the bedroom. It was way too small for my bed!

The guy just stood there, tapping his foot, and kept saying, “So, what do you think?” I asked a few questions about the heat, water, and the landlord, but he was super vague. He said, “It’s all good, man. Just sign the lease, and you’re good to go!”

Yeah, no way. I thanked him for his time, said I needed to think about it, and got the heck out of there. The whole thing felt sketchy. Something felt off.

I ended up walking around the area for a bit, just soaking it in. I grabbed a bite to eat at a local Dominican place – the food was amazing, I gotta say. While I was eating, I Googled the address, 349 E 149th St. And that’s when things got even more interesting.

I found some reviews online about the building. Apparently, the landlord was a nightmare. People were complaining about roaches, leaks, and constant problems with the building’s management. One review even mentioned bed bugs! Oh hell no!

That was the nail in the coffin. I decided right then and there that 349 E 149th St was NOT the place for me. I finished my food, hopped back on the train, and headed back home.

So, yeah, that’s my story with 349 E 149th St. It was a bust, but hey, at least I got a good lunch out of it! It’s a reminder to always do your research and trust your gut. Sometimes, a deal that seems too good to be true usually is.

I continued my search, and eventually, I found a much better place in a different neighborhood. It took a while, but it was worth it. Now, I’m happy in my new apartment, and I can finally get some peace and quiet.
